Downtown Shreveport is getting ready for its walk down the runway in Shreveport’s first ever SB Fashion Week planned for Sept. 26-29.
Downtown figures prominently in SB Magazine’s fashionable plans and there are opportunities for designers, models and more to see and be seen and win press, prestige and great prizes.
One of the downtown events is Thursday, Sept. 27 (mark your calendars now) at artspace, 708 Texas St. On that night, Project Broadway, a one-night only competition-style show, will pit the skills of ten talented fashion designers as they show designs created as a one-of-a-kind evening wear look to be worn at Shreveport Regional Art Council’s Christmas in the Sky 2018.
This year’s CIS theme is Broadway and sections will feature Hamilton to Kinky Boots. Designers are encouraged to select one or more of the section themes and create up a storm!
How will it work? Well, SB wants designers to submit a body of work (3 detailed images of designs created), a designer bio including any pertinent information about background, skills, etc., and a current head shot to fashion@sbmag.net. Designers will be chosen July 2 and will have a total of two months to create one look. The winner will receive a prize package including gifts from local businesses and a spread in SB Magazine.
We know that there is amazing fashion talent in the area. Each year in the spring, Downtown’s The Agora Borealis holds a fashion show that can only be termed ‘amazing.’ SB Fashion Week gives local designers yet another opportunity to shine, be discovered, and ultimately, sell their clothes.
Project Broadway is just one of a number of activities that will be held downtown for SB Fashion Week. More coming soon!
